It is not necessary to leave your concerns or treatment needs in your message.

What to Expect in the Initial Phone Call
Your initial phone call will typically be answered by administrative staff, who may ask you some brief questions regarding your presenting problems, goals, and desired services. If desired, you will also be added to our referral list, and staff will confirm your insurance benefits so that we can ensure you will be covered for our services. Afterward, you will be contacted directly by Dr. Julian Nolen at the earliest available time, in order to determine that our services may be the right fit for your child/family and – if so – to schedule an initial intake session at your convenience. Otherwise, Dr. Nolen will provide you with information about appropriate referrals and resources that may better fit your schedule.

Initial Assessment
The initial assessment will take roughly 1-1.5 hours, with 15-20 minutes dedicated to intake paperwork. Afterward, I (Dr. Nolen) will spend the majority of the session getting to know you and asking questions in order to clarify your presenting issues, concerns, strengths/interests, and treatment goals. These questions will help me to clarify how I can best serve you as a clinician, support our collaborative development of your treatment plan, and ensure that future sessions can be as enjoyable and efficient as possible. This session is also a wonderful chance for you to address any questions you might have about the therapeutic process in general or what to expect going forward.

Continued Therapy
After the initial assessment, we can schedule ongoing therapy sessions to best accommodate your needs and schedule. Therapy is most commonly scheduled on a once-weekly basis, though alternative schedules are available depending on your needs and the limits of your insurance provider.
